The District Auditor of Bradford Council has today issued a public interest report highlighting significant weaknesses in the processes that were followed during the procurement of a £1.2 billion asset management project.
Anonymous allegations of poor management of the procurement process were received by the Audit Commission in June 2005, prior to the Council approving its preferred bidder. At this stage the procurement process was stopped and an immediate investigation was launched by the District Auditor. At the same time the Council launched their own investigation against allegations made about individuals involved in the process.
