CLG’s Data Interchange Hub – ‘The Hub’
The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) launched the Data Interchange Hub (external link) ('the Hub') in April 2008. The Hub provides a secure centralised data storage and a mechanism for data interchange for government departments and local strategic partnerships (LSPs).
The Hub aims to reduce the burden for local authorities in collating data from many different sources and also ensure that they have all the information they need from one source to gauge their performance against the National Indicator Set. This means that the Audit Commission no longer collects performance data directly from local authorities (2007/08 was the last year of data collection through the BVPI -EDC system).

Supporting users of the Hub
Access to technical support for users of CLG's Data Interchange Hub is provided by CLG through the Hub website (external link). CLG is responsible for processing and responding directly to all queries that users raise about the Hub. Examples of the types of queries which should be submitted to CLG include:
- Data submission to the Hub (processes for entering data onto the Hub and reporting deadlines)
- Queries regarding the data that is loaded, or scheduled for upload, to the Hub
- Any queries related to LAA targets, target setting or how targets appear on the Hub
- Password resets and/or any Hub registration requests
- Hub functionality and navigation
- Any technical issues (for example, unexpected error messages)
- Hub policy, infrastructure and future development (for example, XML transfers)
Therefore please ensure that any Hub queries you may have are submitted to CLG's Helpdesk directly. Due to the volume of queries that we receive we are unable to forward any Hub-related queries submitted through our online enquiry form to the Hub Helpdesk at CLG on your behalf.
You should continue to use our online enquiry form to raise any queries that you have regarding the technical definitions of the national indicator set.
