Corporate governance inspection

The way public bodies manage themselves is important in determining the quality of the services they provide. We take a keen interest in addressing the effectiveness of corporate governance arrangements.

Where there are serious concerns about the effectiveness of corporate governance arrangements the Commission may undertake an inspection to diagnose weaknesses and provide recommendations for improvement. In practice, such inspections are undertaken rarely.

In May 2006 we published our revised methodology and framework for undertaking corporate governance inspection (CGI), and the associated key lines of enquiry (KLOE) which inform the areas of an inspection focus and the basis of our judgments.
