Social services PAF data quality self-assessment tool

Summary [Download full report below this summary]

Data quality is a major challenge to councils. Audit and inspection increasingly rely upon self-assessment and this tool will provide assistance and a basis for scrutiny for councils to address data quality.

The self-assessment tool is designed to facilitate social services departments in making a risk assessment of the quality of the social care data relating to adults and older people that is currently held and produced by its service.

To get started with the self assessment, download Part 1, Risk assessment for data quality. Simply click on the page entitled Introduction, read the instructions and start working through the questions.

Part 2 of the self assessment tool can be used to examine the data underlying a key group of seven Social Services Performance Assessment Framework (PAF) indicators. This will require a comprehensive understanding of how adult and older people's services are delivered and may best be achieved through partnership with another council, a specialist performance auditor or by engaging consultancy support.
