We worked with county, combined, metropolitan and London fire authorities across England.
On 12 February 2009 we published the results of our fire and rescue performance assessment for 2008.
Fire services in England continued to improve (preventing more fires, saving lives and reducing deaths and injuries), but the gap between the best and worst services increased.
Our national report gave the scores and analysis for all services. Results scorecards for individual fire services can be accessed by going to 'My location'.
Corporate assessments
In August 2007 we published the fire and rescue comprehensive performance assessment and reported the Commission's approach for fire and rescue comprehensive performance assessment (fire CPA) until March 2009.
