The Commission's corporate assessment inspection team found that the Council, with its partner organisations, is delivering well on a number of local priorities and exerts influence beyond its area.
It has maintained a strong and effective focus, especially on economic development, transport and waste management. The Council provides strong community leadership, and is improving its understanding of the needs of individuals and diverse communities. This is especially the case with its black and minority ethnic (BME) communities and other hard-to-reach groups, as it tackles difficult issues in an inclusive but purposeful way.
