Housing inspections

The Audit Commission has a role in carrying out assessments of public sector services including those provided by local government and social housing providers. Housing has become an integral part of the broader agendas of  social inclusion, regeneration, sustainable development and neighbourhood management. We carry out inspections of local authority strategic housing functions including private sector housing functions and homelessness services. We also undertake inspections of social housing providers' landlord services on behalf of the Tenant Services Authority (TSA); these include inspections of landlord services provided by local authorities, Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMOs) and housing associations.
